USFA On-Duty Death: Texas

EMMITSBURG, Md. — The United States Fire Administration (USFA) has announced the on-duty death of Fire Chief Charles “Charlie” Woodard, 38, of the Mabank Fire Department on 27 June 2026.

Fire Chief Charles “Charlie” Woodard was directing traffic outside the Mabank Rodeo grounds. As he stepped into the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 175, Fire Chief Woodard was hit by a pickup truck. Fire Chief Woodard was treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Investigation into the incident continues.
