N.J. Firefighter Dies from POV Crash Injuries

MALAGA, N.J. — The Malaga Volunteer Fire Company announced the death of Probationary Firefighter Robert Reider in a Facebook post on 10 July.

On 27 June, Reider was involved in a motor vehicle crash while responding to a call. He was extricated from his vehicle and flown to Cooper Hospital.

He succumbed to his injuries on 10 July.

According to data from the United States Fire Administration, the last time a firefighter died in the line of duty while driving a personal vehicle was on 7 September 2025.
