USFA On-Duty Death: Texas

EMMITSBURG, Md. — The United States Fire Administration (USFA) has announced the on-duty death of Lieutenant Isai Huerta, 29, of Odessa Fire Rescue on 14 June 2026.

Lieutenant Isai Huerta responded with Odessa Fire Rescue to a residential trailer fire. While firefighters were operating on scene, conditions deteriorated rapidly, and Lieutenant Huerta sustained injuries. Lieutenant Huerta was transported to a medical center where he was later pronounced deceased. Five other firefighters who sustained non-life-threating injuries during the incident were treated at a hospital and released.
