BROCKTON, Mass. — Brockton Firefighter Jeffrey Albanese died after suffering cardiac arrest while on duty earlier this month, the fire department announced.

“Firefighter Albanese fought courageously but succumbed to his injuries just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024,” Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said. “He was surrounded by his family and fellow firefighters,” the Boston Herald reported.

Albanese went into sudden cardiac arrest on 9 Dec. while responding to an incident. He was initially resuscitated by colleagues, Brewster EMS, and medical staff at Signature Brockton Hospital but ultimately could not recover.
