USFA On-Duty Death: Arizona

The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter/Paramedic Brenna Kulikowski, 31, and Firefighter/EMT Damon Thompson, 21, on 14 September 2025.

Firefighter/EMT Damon Thompson and Firefighter/Paramedic Brenna Kulikowski were in an ambulance returning to their station after leaving a hospital from an interfacility transport. While on State Route 260, another vehicle traveling in the other direction collided head-on with the ambulance. Firefighter/EMT Thompson and Firefighter/Paramedic Kulikowski were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle also passed away from injuries sustained in the collision. Investigation into the incident continues.

The number of on-duty deaths for 2025 is currently 65.
