The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Fire Police Captain Ed Margavich, 80, of the Third District Volunteer Fire Company on 15 August 2025.
On August 8, 2025, Fire Police Captain Ed Margavich responded with the Third District Volunteer Fire Company to a vehicle fire that spread to a house. After directing traffic at the scene for a while, Fire Police Captain Margavich was walking to a nearby fire station to get additional equipment when he fell and broke his femur. He was transferred to a trauma center and underwent emergency surgery. Due to complications related to the injury, however, Fire Police Captain Maravich passed away on August 15, 2025.
