USFA On-Duty Death: Maryland

The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Lieutenant Mark Dranbauer, Jr., 44, of the Baltimore City Fire Department on 17 May 2025.

On May 12, 2025, while on an aerial ladder working a rowhome fire, Lieutenant Mark Dranbauer, Jr. suffered a medical emergency. He fell down the ladder and was quickly rescued by other firefighters. Lieutenant Dranbauer was then taken to a hospital in critical condition where he passed away on May 17, 2025. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
