The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Acting Chief Michael Windsay, 51, of the New Orleans Fire Department on 3 March 2025.

While on duty at New Orleans Fire Department’s Fifth District Headquarters, Acting Chief Michael Windsay was found unresponsive. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
