The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter Steve Weikle, 70, of Boiling Springs Fire and Rescue Inc., on 13 February 2025.

On February 13, 2025, Firefighter Steve Weikle responded with the Boiling Springs Fire and Rescue to a report of a collapsed barn with a trapped animal. After freeing the animal and within 24 hours of this response, Firefighter Weikle was found outside of his home in cardiac arrest. Emergency medical services were called to the scene where Firefighter Weikle was pronounced deceased.
