The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Assistant Chief Leon Davis, 69, of the Blackshear Fire Department on 27 September 2024.

On Friday, September 27, 2024, Assistant Chief Leon Davis responded to the scene of a downed power line that was on fire. When he was leaving the incident a tree fell on the cab of his fire department pickup truck, killing him instantly.
