The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter Matthew Edward Forand, 45, of the New Bedford Fire Department on 15 August 2024.

On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, Firefighter Matthew Edward Forand was on duty at the fire station when he suffered a medical emergency and passed away during the night. The cause of his death has yet to be determined.
