USFA On-Duty Death: South Carolina

The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter Michael “Mike Mike” Vinson, 27, of the Clinton Fire Department on 31 March 2024.

On Sunday, March 31, 2024, Firefighter Michael “Mike Mike” Vinson and another firefighter were responding to a service call in a fire apparatus. The fire apparatus and another vehicle collided at an intersection. Firefighter Michael “Mike Mike” Vinson was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other firefighter in the apparatus was flown to the Spartanburg Regional Hospital and has since been released. The civilian involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is currently under investigation. Firefighter Vinson was also a member of the Laurens County Fire Service.
