USFA On-Duty Death: New Jersey

The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter Marques Hudson, 32, of the Plainfield Fire Department on 26 January 2024.

On Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, Firefighter Marques Hudson responded to a residential fire. While fighting the fire, he became trapped and a mayday was called. Firefighter Hudson was immediately rescued and CPR was performed. He was then transported to the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident. Four other firefighters were also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
