The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter Troy Thompson, 46, of the Seven Springs Volunteer Fire Department on 4 October 2023.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, Firefighter Troy Thompson was at the scene of a vehicle accident when he suffered a medical emergency. He was immediately rushed to UNC Health Wayne where he passed away a short time later. Investigation into the incident continues.
