USFA On-Duty Death: Tennessee

The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Lieutenant Jeffrey Norman, 51, of the Memphis Fire Department on 19 July 2023.

On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, members of the Memphis Fire Department responded to a residential fire. While fighting the fire, 4 firefighters became trapped. The firefighters were rescued and immediately transported to the hospital. In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Lieutenant Jeffrey Norman passed away from the injuries he sustained in the fire. The other 3 firefighters remain in the hospital.
