USFA On-Duty Death: Georgia

The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Wildland Firefighter Shaun Luke Daniel, 26, of the Georgia Forestry Commission on 5 June 2023.

On Monday, June 5, 2023, Wildland Firefighter Shaun Luke Daniel, while on-duty at a contained wildfire in Washington County, GA, was walking a firebreak and suddenly collapsed. Fellow emergency responders provided CPR on-scene and he was immediately transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased from an apparent heart attack.
