North Carolina Volunteer Firefighter Dies after Being On-Duty

PINNACLE, North Carolina – The Pinnacle Fire Department and local news stations have reported the death of a volunteer firefighter after being on-duty Sunday.

WGHP reported that Pinnacle firefighter Van Boles died early Monday morning after being on duty Sunday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Firefighter Boles had served the department and community for 34 years. He is survived by his wife and son.

The cause and nature of Boles’ death was not reported. Emphasis was given to the state’s definition of a line of duty death.
