EMMITSBURG, Md. — The United States Fire Administration (USFA) has announced the on-duty death of Fire Police Officer George Mullins Jr., 66, of the Shaler Village Volunteer Fire Company on 9 August 2026.
On August 9, 2026, Fire Police Officer George Mullins Jr. suffered a medical emergency at approximately 7:30 p.m. while performing traffic control duties at a fire department community event. Emergency medical personnel at the event quickly provided care and transported Fire Police Officer Mullins to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Fire Police Officer Mullins could not be resuscitated and was pronounced deceased that evening.
