Texas Firefighter Killed, Struck by Fire Apparatus

ABBOTT, Texas – A Texas firefighter has died from injuries received after he was struck by fire apparatus on Friday evening.

6 News and other local news outlets reported that the Abbott Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle crash on I-35. Upon arrival they determined it was a stranded motorist and remained on the scene to help with traffic control while waiting for a tow truck.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fire truck was being repositioned and backed into the firefighter.

Firefighters immediately rendered care and the injured firefighter was flown to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital were he was later pronounced dead.

The incident is under investigation.
