NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A North Syracuse firefighter has died after being stricken by a heart attack during a house fire in January.

Firefighter Peter Dromms responded to a house fire shortly before midnight on 13 January, according to Syracuse.com. North Syracuse fire chief Pat Brennan said that Dromms, 77, had been ding exterior work, running lights and fans, when he told another firefighter he did not feel well.

Dromms was transported to a hospital and had surgery related to a heart attack. He was eventually released from the hospital but returned due to complication. Brennan said that Dromms did not have a heart condition and “he passed his physical (last April).”

The exact cause and nature of death have not been reported.

Dromms is survived by his wife and two daughters.
