Maui Firefighter Dies from On-Duty Injuries

KIHEI, Hawaii – A Maui County firefighter has died after being injured during a call on 27 January, according to local news.

Maui firefighter Tre’ Evans-Dumaran responded to a call for a flooded home. He became caught in a four-foot-wide storm drain and was carried approximately 800 yards to where the drain empties.

Firefighter Evans-Dumaran was pulled out of the water and given CPR until paramedics arrived shortly after. He remained in intensive care at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.
