The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Training Officer Bruce Lang, 68, of the Pine Haven Volunteer Fire Department on 15 December 2022.
On Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, after being paged to respond, Training Officer Bruce Lang arrived in his privately owned vehicle at the scene of an individual driving an ATV that had fallen through the ice of a lake. While attempting to rescue the victim, the vehicle that Training Officer Lang was in also broke through the ice. The initial victim was rescued by fellow firefighters; however, Training Officer Lang did not survive.
