New York Firefighter Dies While Training with County USAR Team

SUFFOLK COUNTY, New York – The New York Post and other local news outlets have reported on the announcement of the death of a former Long Island fire chief during training on Saturday.

In a Facebook post on Saturday the Hauppauge Fire Department stated that Ex-Chief Stephen A. Feron of the Truck Company died during training with the Suffolk County Urban Search and Rescue Team.

The Post stated unnamed sources told them that Feron’s death occurred during water rescue drills.

There were no specific comments from the family and officials.
