The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter/EMT David Wayne McDonald, Jr., 40, of Grand Traverse Band Fire Rescue on 17 March 2022.

On Thursday, March 17, 2022, while on-duty at the fire station, Firefighter/EMT David Wayne McDonald, Jr. was found deceased on the bay floor by a fellow firefighter.  The cause of his death is under investigation.
