“Do you have an up-to-date breakdown of this year’s line of duty deaths?”

A detailed breakdown is being updated but here is a general one that is currently up to date, as of 10 September 2021.

The most current interior numbers on fire attack, search, and ventilation can be seen here.

The latest on COVID-19 deaths can be seen here.

As for the bulk of the rest:

Heart Attack: 16 (one victim was struck by a vehicle, but died of a heart attack)
Unknown (medical emergency): 14
CVA: 1

Violence: 1 (shot)

Suicide: 1

Electrocution: 1

Trauma: 15
– Struck by fire department apparatus: 4
– While driving/riding fire department apparatus: 2
– While driving/riding personal vehicle: 3
– Fall: 3
– Plane crash: 2
– Struck by tree: 1

As always, these numbers are subject to change as the year goes and by updates from the United States Fire Administration.
