USFA On-Duty Death: New Jersey

EMMITSBURG, Maryland – The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Lieutenant Donald J. Trout, 53, of the Middlesex County Hazardous Materials Unit on 27 August 2021.

On Friday, August 27, 2021, Lieutenant Donald J. Trout was responding to a tractor trailer carrying hazardous materials that overturned and crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike at Interchange 8A. While getting ready to leave the station, Lieutenant Trout suffered a medical emergency.  He was immediately transported to the local hospital where he passed away.
