USFA On-Duty Death: New Mexico

EMMITSBURG, Maryland – The United States Fire Administration has announced the death of Firefighter Janet Tracy, 59, of the Caballo Volunteer Fire Department on 20 July 2021.

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, Firefighter Janet Tracy was at the scene of a single vehicle non-injury crash on I-25 south of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. While providing aid and support to the scene, another firefighter who was repositioning a Caballo fire truck, struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighter Tracy also served as the Secretary for the department.
