USFA On-Duty Death: New Jersey

EMMITSBURG, Maryland – The United States Fire Administration has announced the on-duty death of Assistant Chief William “Billy” Shaffer, 53, of Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No.2 on 14 July 2021.

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, Assistant Chief William “Billy” Shaffer responded to a vehicle fire. While at the scene, he was found unresponsive by other first responders. He was immediately treated and was rushed to the RWJ Somerset Hospital where he passed away.
