MIDDLESEX COUNTY, New Jersey – A New Jersey firefighter has died after reportedly suffering a heart attack during training, according to NJ.com and a fire department social media post.

Kingston Fire Chief John Luck told NJ.com that Firefighter Dennis B. Shennard suffered a heart attack on Saturday at approximately 10:00 a.m. while firefighters were conducting live fire training at the Middlesex County Fire Academy.

Firefighter Shennard, a firefighter with Kingston Volunteer Fire Company No.1, was treated on the scene and transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy where he was pronounced dead.

At the time of reporting, no specific details were provided regarding what Shennard was doing prior to his heart attack.
